A Day at BEA: Exciting New Books!

by Ruby on May 25, 2011

Sherri, one of our Vromies at Book Expo America, has a quick update on her first day at BEA:

Birds of ParadiseMy first day on the trade show floor [Monday] was pretty great.  I attended an interview of Alexander Maksik by author A.M. Homes.  Alexander is the author of a new book coming out from Tonga Editions, a new line of books selected by Alice Sebold.  Alexander’s book is called You Deserve Nothing, and will be out in September.  I also had the chance to meet Diana Abu-Jaber, author of the forthcoming novel, Birds of Paradise, a stunning book that I just loved, look for it in the fall.

Today [Wednesday] I had the opportunity to listen to Melissa Clark interview seed saver extraordinaire, Jere Gettle.  His first book, The Heirloom Gardener, will be out in the fall.  I saw the exciting new batch of books coming out from the Workman Publishing Group, great fiction, cookbooks, and gardening to name just  a few categories.  Overall the buzz at the convention is upbeat, you can’t get any better than a room full of publishers, readers, authors and booksellers!
