I’m too busy a man to be troubled coming up with some zany title to this post, so you’ll simply have to make do with the banal descriptive moniker I’ve given it. Anyway, on with the links:
- The Year in Reading series continues at the Millions with Vroman’s favorite Edan Lepucki, Joshua Ferris and legendary literary pioneer William H. Gass weighing in on their favorites of the year.
- One thing is absolutely clear to me after reading this New York Times Q&A with Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon.com: Jeff Bezos is a dick. I think the blog Survival of the Book summed it up nicely when they said “This isn’t a man who loves books or ideas. This is a man who loves selling crap and making money.” Think a bit about whether you’d like to give him any of your money.
- Finally, this is a beautiful series of photos by Brian Urlich featuring empty retail locations, including abandoned big box stores and vacant shopping malls. It reminds me a bit of the Talking Heads song “(Nothing but) Flowers.”
