Year in Reading, Vroman’s Style

by Patrick on December 14, 2009

It’s pretty busy here at the store, as you might imagine, so the blog has been a bit slow lately.  In lieu of a real post here today, I will point you to my Year in Reading post at The Millions, where I write, briefly, about Stoner by John Williams and Here Comes Everybody by Clay Shirky.  Both of them are excellent books, well worth your time.  If I’d been pressed to pick a book originally published in 2009, I’d have gone with Dan Chaon’s Await Your Reply.  It is, in my opinion, the best book published in 2009.  I’ll likely have more to say about my year in reading here at the Vroman’s Blog, but for now, check out the Millions.

Another vote for Dan.

I was in the store yesterday, purchasing a new desk calendar for 2010, three copies of “Gardens of Water” (our One City, One Story book selection) and a number of Christmas presents. I always love every minute I spend there!
